Bible Verse:
“See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut.” — Revelation 3:8 (NIV)
Few things are more painful than watching a door close.
A job opportunity disappears.
A relationship comes to an end.
A long-awaited dream slips through our hands.
In those moments, disappointment can easily become despair.
We begin asking questions that have no immediate answers.
“Why did this happen?”
“Did I do something wrong?”
“Has God forgotten me?”
The silence that follows a closed door can feel overwhelming.
Yet throughout the Bible, God often used closed doors to lead His people toward something better.
Joseph was rejected by his brothers before he became a ruler in Egypt.
Paul was prevented from entering certain cities before God led him to Macedonia.
Even Jesus experienced rejection, yet through the cross God opened the door of salvation for the entire world.
A closed door is not always a sign of God’s rejection.
Sometimes it is His protection.
Sometimes it is His redirection.
Sometimes it is His preparation.
We see only what we have lost.
God sees what He is about to give.
It is difficult to trust when our plans fall apart.
But faith is believing that God’s wisdom is greater than our understanding.
When one chapter ends, God is already writing the next.
His plans are never limited by our disappointments.
Perhaps today you are standing before a closed door.
Maybe you prayed for an opportunity that never came.
Maybe you hoped for something that did not happen.
Do not lose heart.
If God closes a door, it is because He knows what is on the other side.
The God who sees tomorrow is guiding you today.
His “no” is never without purpose.
His timing is never late.
His love never changes.
Hold tightly to His promises.
Keep walking by faith.
The door God opens will always lead you closer to His perfect will.
And when you finally look back, you may discover that the closed door was one of the greatest blessings God ever gave you.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, help us trust You when doors close before us. Give us peace when we do not understand Your plans and courage to follow wherever You lead. Open the doors that are according to Your will, and close the ones that would lead us away from Your purpose. Thank You for always guiding us with perfect wisdom and unfailing love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
